The premium you pay for health plans purchased through the Marketplace may be further reduced if your household income is below 400 percent of the federal poverty level ($45,960 for individuals and $94,200 for a family of four).
The Tax Credit and Premium Estimators estimate the amount you would pay toward a health plan after the application of any advance tax credits to which you may be eligible. Your estimated advance tax credit is paid directly to your health plan by the federal government. You only pay your portion of the premium.
Download the Tax Credit and Premium Estimators below to estimate the amount of tax credit you may be eligible for and the amount you will have to pay toward coverage each month. (Note: Microsoft Excel must be installed on your device in order to use the estimator.) To get your estimate, just fill in the number of people in your household, your annual household taxable income, the county where you live, and the level of the health plan.
Your actual Advance Premium Tax Credit will be determined at the time you apply for coverage and by the plan option you choose.
Table I - Tax Credit Estimator for Individuals and Families:
The Tax Credit Estimator for Individuals and Families (Table I) displays the estimated maximum percentage and monthly cost for the second lowest priced silver plan available in a selected county. This amount is calculated by multiplying the Annual Taxable Income amount entered for the individual or family by the percentage contribution established in federal law. The contribution will vary based on the Annual Taxable Income and the total number of individuals in the household entered. Table I also displays the Estimated Advance Premium Monthly Tax Credit Available to Apply to Any Plan (other than a Catastrophic Plan) in Your County.
Table II - Premium Rate Estimator:
The amounts shown under Column A of the Premium Rate Estimator (Table II) are the full premium for the Health Plans' Standard Products available in the county you identified in Table I; Column B of Table II shows the amount of the Estimated Advance Premium Tax Credit, if any, as calculated in Table I and Column C shows the net effect of applying said credit amount, if any, against the premium rate in Column A of Table II.
Please note, Table I also displays the estimated amount to participate in the Child Health Plus program (CHP), if applicable, however, that amount is not included in the premium amounts as displayed in Table II. Information regarding CHP is available at http://www.health.ny.gov/health_care/child_health_plus/.
